Whether it's a team-building seminar, gala or anniversary evening, the success of a corporate event depends on correct theming, which must combine organisation, communication and imagination. Check out the three key areas that require particular attention to  theme a corporate event for your business.

Get the right people involved for guaranteed success

The organisation of a corporate event requires a combination of a great many skills and contributors. That's why it's worth getting professional support right from the start. They will know the pitfalls to be avoided with regard to logistics or communication and will manage the legal, security, and health and safety aspects. Thus, the company will soon have an idea of the options open to it and which meet its expectations in terms of destinations, organisation and even restrictions - particularly from a budget point of view. Next comes the choice of theme and the creation of a concept that's original and in line with the event whilst also being linked to the company's values. With regard to the budget, the correct distribution of funds should ensure the comfort of participants whilst enabling the organisation of attractive, unifying activities.

Monitor the project and communicate actively

When the guidelines are in place (place, date, theme, contributors, activities, etc.), you need to get regular information on how the project is evolving. The sequence of activities and a keen eye for detail are determining factors:

  • The event programme should alternate periods of R&R with periods of work, not forgetting time for travel and/or transfer.
  • Well before the big day, via a dedicated website, it's useful to communicate about the event and to add value to it. It's a good idea to create a bit of suspense and add a teaser to build longing.
  • You can design a specific graphic charter to be deployed on the dedicated website, when the contributors are introduced and on any goodies that may be given to the participants.
  • Lastly, to maximise the impact of the company's message, the CEO's contribution must be particularly well planned and executed and, above all, scripted.

Original, high-quality services and activities

You need to ensure that the activities on offer are adapted to the event's location, the climate and to the profiles of the various contributors. The fashion for high-octane activities centred on thrills and spills is over and has been replaced by shared activities designed around themes such as wellbeing or personal growth... Depending on the chosen theme and the budget, you can use your imagination to the full to create activities, which need to be quirky, innovative or even traditional to really please the participants. Lastly, go for quality rather than quantity. Piling on the activities usually just results in a pointlessly over-loaded evening and is far from being a guarantee of the success of your company event!
